چکیده

For intercity highway with many branches, the video data for each monitoring node is very large and it is unlikely to fuse these data without time synchronization. In this paper an object-based video reconstruction approach is presented for route-oriented tasks of intercity highway monitoring with many branches using low cost distributed video capturing devices installed on the roadside posts. First of all, the temporary vehicular objects are extracted using the background subtraction and then the video for each branch is reconstructed by fusing these objects into a preset background sprite based on the map of the temporary traffic states. Since the video for each branch is coded into the related ID and its motion parameters of the tracked object, any route-oriented tasks like vehicular object tracking or traffic routing can be easily visualized, providing a good link between drivers and the monitoring center. Experimental results show its effectiveness.

An Assignment Scheme to Control Multiple Pan/Tilt Cameras for 3D Video

— This paper presents an assignment scheme to control multiple Pan/Tilt (PT) cameras for 3D video of a moving object. The system combines static wide field of view (FOV) cameras and active Pan/Tilt (PT) cameras with narrow FOV within a networked platform. We consider the general case where the active cameras have as high resolution as they can capture only partial views of the object. The major...

MPEG-7 Description for Scalable Video Reconstruction

We present an MPEG–7 compliant description of video sequences for scalable transmission and reconstruction. The proposed object-based method permits efficient and flexible video coding while keeping the benefits of textual descriptions in database applications. Video objects are described in terms of shape, color, texture and motion. These features are extracted automatically and are sufficient...

Real-Time Active 3D Shape Reconstruction for 3D Video

In this paper, we focus on the real-time 3D shape reconstruction of an object moving in a wide area(e.g. a dancing human). To efficiently record dynamically changing 3D object shape, the real-time 3D shape reconstruction and active tracking are required. For the real-time 3D shape reconstruction, we propose a parallel plane-based volume intersection method. By implementing the algorithm on a PC...

Silhouettes for Calibration and Reconstruction from Multiple Views

SUDIPTA N. SINHA: Silhouettes for Calibration and Reconstruction from Multiple Views. (Under the direction of Marc Pollefeys) In this thesis, we study how silhouettes extracted from images and video can help with two fundamental problems of 3D computer vision namely multi-view camera calibration and 3D surface reconstruction from multiple images. First, we present an automatic method for calibr...
